由于各螺桿的相互嚙合以及螺桿與襯筒內(nèi)壁的緊密配合，在泵的吸入口和排出口之間，就會(huì)被分隔成一個(gè)或多個(gè)密封空間。Because of the mutual engagement of the screws and the close fit between the screw and the inner wall of the liner, there is one or more sealing spaces between the suction port and the discharge port of the pump.隨著螺桿的轉(zhuǎn)動(dòng)和嚙合，這些密封空間在泵的吸入端不斷形成，將吸入室中的液體封入其中，并自吸入室沿螺桿軸向連續(xù)地推移至排出端，將封閉在 各空間中的液體不斷排出，猶如一螺母在螺紋回轉(zhuǎn)時(shí)被不斷向前推進(jìn)的情形那樣，其中螺紋圈數(shù)看做液體，當(dāng)螺釘旋轉(zhuǎn)時(shí)螺紋在轉(zhuǎn)動(dòng)時(shí)就相當(dāng)于液體在螺桿泵里面的情形，這就是螺桿泵的基本工作原理。
